MOONLIGHT GAMBOL (photomorph) & INEVITABLE AS MOONLIGHT (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
INEVITABLE AS MOONLIGHT
the young male dancer shadows
Fred Astaire, growing in skill and artistry
with each new step he mimics of the master's;
the only thing missing from the young man's
developing repertoire: a female partner
to learn and explore along with him;
even as the dream awareness
of this gap surfaces, a young female
glides on stage in a voluminous
shimmering gown of pale aqua, and waltzes
immediately into his arms; their delicate
and promising partnering evolves
with the languid three-quarter time
to become as inevitable as moonlight;
when at last they settle into the ending swirl,
she arches backward across his held out arms
in the most unordinary of ordinary final poses,
her arms trailing toward the golden brown floor
boards, the stage lights creating a rainbow
out of her diaphanous gown's curving tension
just as the held breath of the dream releases
into waking
[free verse poem on a dream of 8-14-17. This was a very mildly lucid dream (knowing one is dreaming, as one is dreaming), as evidenced here in the couple of places where the dream is referenced. Photomorph "Moonlight Gambol" (8-15-17 003v3a) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
