THE SUN'S SKIN (photomorph) & THE WOULD-BE BIRD FEEDER (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila]
THE WOULD-BE BIRD FEEDER
(a challenge poem*)
two of my neighbors I've just run into,
and I, stand together on the street corner,
admiring the fresh basket-shaped mango skin
she's holding up, back lit by the bright sunlight;
she smiles, wondering out loud if it will dry
hard enough to make into the hanging bird
feeder its shape suggests; as the two of them
walk on, taking the impressive skin away
with them, I think: no matter if it doesn't find
a second life as a feeder, we have already
been fed by its dazzling orange-yellow
color, its sun sweetened curves
[non-dream free verse poem written on 6-13-17. * I'm calling this one a challenge poem as just before my neighbor left she added, with a smile: "Now you can write a poem about this mango skin." I should add that my fellow residents in the retirement community I live in are all too aware of how much poetry I write. :-) Photomorph "The Sun's Skin" (3-2-15 005v10a) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
