CURBED (photo) & HER FATE (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

HER FATE

everything's thoroughly soggy and all the time,
but no surprise with her torrential tears,
given all that passes her by,
has always passed her by

one would think that her open wounds
and howling hunger would bring traffic
to a halt ... isn't there even a law* that they
have to stop when one steps up to the curb?

well, seems that's something else
leaving her in the dust and litter, the usual
doesn't apply: being passed by appears
to be her fate ... and of course they don't
even take note of the fraying, dripping wet
edges of this life long fight as they do ...

when does it become time to toss in the towel?

[non-dream free verse poem written 6-5-17. * Pedestrians do generally have the right of way at marked or unmarked street crossings here in California, and vehicles should slow to a stop, which (in my experience) with rare exception, they do. Another apology for another self-pitying poem. But, what the hell, I'm human. I just wish it were a better written poem. I've not been very happy with many of my recent efforts, either poetic or photographic. Photo "Curbed" (6-4-17 032v2) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
