DON'T GO THERE (photomorph) & THE SNARES (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

THE SNARES

they more or less graciously endure
the yearning for and acute suffering over
what they've lost: the passionate loves that
now line the by-ways of their pasts like so
much litter glittering when the light hits
certain edges just right, or soggy when days
are an unending grey; while I, on the other hand,
deeply mourn all the loves I've never even had
a chance to lose, as I bear over and over again
the sudden assaults of distant desire that wait
in ambush around any unknown corner, teasing
and tormenting me with sweet promises that
maybe, just maybe, this time ... but they stay
around only long enough to claw me raw like
the spirits of sleek black panthers escaping
the snares of manifestation

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
