TILT! (photomorph) & WHAT A PUZZLE (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

WHAT A PUZZLE

time, you blesséd old ogre,
disgorging everything for a duration
less substantial than the flickering
of moonlight on a darkly lapping lake
before swallowing it all up

only to instantly release
a new moment to be devoured
by your inevitable hunger ...
and another ... and another ...

what a puzzle then that a thing
called "I" maintains a belief
in its own continuity
and in the value of tilting
at flickering windmills

[non-dream free verse poem finished 7-24-15. Although not dream based, this could be called dream assisted. I completed it yesterday, but was vaguely discontent with the final image. When I woke this morning singing "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha, I realized I'd found the closing image. Photomorph "Tilt!" (6-15-15 001v5b) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
