PRIMAL DANCE (photo) & FILM NOIR (dreamku series) by Roswila

FILM NOIR

unusual for
film noir, the scene is set outdoors,
the full moon’s light on
the tall grove of winter trees
like a crackled glaze

the sound track whispers,
tendrils of lyrics fingering
the still scene like fog,
murmuring of sycamores
and moonlight in Vermont

while something listens, lifting its ancient head
each time the dreamer almost makes a wish

[two tanka and one two-liner on a dream of 10-26-12. I “heard” snatches of the actual song “Moonlight in Vermont.” And was also aware while dreaming that although it was supposed to be a film noir scene it was not typical of that black and white film genre. E.g., at the very start of this little dream I briefly wondered where the night time city and the police detectives were. Photo “Primal Dance” by Roswila]

BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:
