WATER WORLD (photo) & UNDERWATER (dream tanka trio) by Roswila

UNDERWATER

they each do their best
to talk her out of staying
under the water,
though she breathes perfectly well
here sans mask, as they all do

they just think it’s time
she surface and plod the earth,
not caring she swims
gracefully and angst free here,
in her element at last

but all their coaxing
carries no more weight than
the bubbles of breath
trailing from their mouths,
transparent globes of emptiness

[three tanka on a dream of 10-22-12. Hm, the dreamk/ku yesterday was about preparing for a deep sea dive to steal something, an implied treasure hunt. In today's, the water itself is the treasure; or rather desperately yearned for respite, if I’m to be fully honest. Photo “Water World” by Roswila]

BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:
