INCHING UP THE SKY (photomorph) & TREASURE (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

TREASURE

the radiant violet of the small blossom
steals all of my attention, and I stop short
to stare at its elegant hunting horn shape,
lined with pale gold

when a crow begins cawing insistently
in the tree near me, as if to say "Look at
me, look at me, look!" I reluctantly lift
my gaze from this violet beauty, knowing
from long experience that all I need do
to satisfy it would be to look directly up
at this dark clown and say something, even
a simple "Well, hello!," and so I do

I turn quickly back to the treasure
of the flower, just in time to be surprised
by the sight of two bees stealing
side by side out of the golden throat
of the hunting horn, to disappear like
Robin Hood and one of his Merry Men
into the surrounding greenery
