WHERE'D EVERYBODY GO? (photo) & WINDOW DRESSING (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila
WINDOW DRESSING
... the deep green bush colorfully lit
like a department store window
at holiday time, by a slew
of birds-of-paradise, each one
facing in a different direction
as if listening to a wind only it
can hear, yet each blossom
rooted in the same rich earth
[non-dream free verse poem written 10-17-17. I suppose I could find some relevance in this poem to the fact that today would have been my mother's birthday (she died when I was 10). But I'd rather just let the poem go out, unanalyzed. And remember that in my teens I stumbled across poems my mother had written and how that started me trying to write. I have a poem specifically about her (we called her "Mama") that I also drafted on today's walk. If it turns out at all decent, of course I'll post it here. Photo "Where'd Everybody Go?" There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
