AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD (photo) & STUFF (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

STUFF

the question always seems to be why?
why the obsessing about some relationship
to the point of nausea; why all the over-
and wrong eating that burdens both body
and spirit; why the forever reliving
of a sharp edged past till all will
and energy and sense bleed away,
and more to the point, beneath it all,
behind each frantically produced
and garish cover, why this intense
intolerance of emptiness as if to even
stand before it would be to burn into
a wisp of smoke, this fear of the void
so deep that even a vague hint
of the vacuum just the other side
of the space hatch door sends one
scuttling to weight oneself firmly
against the floor with every possible
heaviness, with all the painful freight
one can scramble terrified toward and
catch "See, I'm not empty, just
look at how impossibly full my
aching arms are with all this
meaningful stuff!"

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
