WISHING FOR WINGS (photomorph) & STRANGE BED FELLOWS (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila
STRANGE BED FELLOWS
biting my forearm
the large grey pigeon hangs on
but there's no pain or
penetration as I try to shake off
this thoroughly unwanted bed fellow
sigh, I guess this is what I get for wishing
my usual good dream recall would return:
a big winged rat demanding
my undivided attention
[a tanka and two 2-liners on a dream of 7-28-16. Re: dream recall -- mine's been rather poor for a couple weeks, which does happen once in a while. However, this is the second episode in recent months and that was beginning to concern me. Enough that I did some googling on dream recall and the aging brain. Seems there are various theories on why dream recall does appear to decline with age. Too much to go into here, but a couple made sense to me. Now I find myself determined to counteract them. Smile. As to the dream itself, well, it's one of those many layered ones that I've only begun to explore. BTW, "winged rats" is an expression sometimes used for the street pigeons in New York City (where I'm from). Photomorph "Wishing for Wings" (7-18-16 002v2) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
