THE VAGARIES OF MEMORY (photomorph) & FORENSIC FILES: Dreamtime (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

FORENSIC FILES: Dreamtime

yes, I know, we had it all figured out
based on that series of street cam videos:
he shot and killed that person

and now I can't find in the videos where we
clearly saw his car, and his arm coming
out of the window aiming, then...kaboom!

how can this happen? tapes don't just
re-record themselves, all on their own,
do they? write over what was there before,
wiping it all out?

and, even so, what happened
still happened, didn't it?

didn't it? if not, what can be relied on
as real and true?

[free verse poem on a dream of 3-19-16. This dream was in response to a rather convoluted and needy question I asked of my dreams before I went to sleep last night. And, believe it or not, is actually a very positive answer. I read it as suggesting that I should deeply question what I think/believe, while also reflecting my anxiety at the mere thought of doing so. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
