BRANCHING OUT (photo) & BRACHIATING (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
BRACHIATING
which way to go now
the rocks to the left and right
nigh on to boulders
and straight ahead
far below the cliff edge
a wide heavily tree lined lake
grasping one of the many
tree branches the easiest
part of the journey so far
not only does it prove strong
but greatly flexible
swinging in long arcs
only worry about grasping
this branch long enough
for just the right arc
toward the far shore
and then the short letting go
onto land again
brings on these tears
yes, that must be it
for it's been said
that the human brain
uses an ancient area
for language that it once used
for navigating
arm over arm
through the trees*
and this speech
is joyful is it not?
a dunk in the lake avoided
the maze of impossible rocks
left behind
and this holding on
dangling in a wide
and gentle swaying
like a bell's clapper
against its lip
certainly
not that of sobbing
of grieving
the always sought
but never found
home
[free verse poem on a dream of 11-3-15. *I actually recall hearing this somewhere a long time ago. Odd, what old information floats up in dreams sometimes. Photo "Branching Out" (10-27-15 001v2) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
