THE GHOST HEATS UP (photomorph ) & WHAT IF (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

WHAT IF

and what if I should get over you?
what would live in my memory then,
taking a stand against all the losses,
and worse yet, rejections, and personal
failures, big and small alike that have pock
marked the dark side of my life with
the blasts of random changes and my own
poor choices before we ever met? I should
be overwhelmed, bereft, barren without
your lanky, angular image rising to the rescue
like an impassable ghost in front of that army
of old memories that shoot me down any
chance it gets with pain and self-indictment,
unlike this persistent and wildly, bitter-sweet
connection to you; so, what would I ever do
should I get over you? if I – as common wisdom
and well-meaning friends dictate – should
succeed in banishing this warm ghost of your
bulwark? and why should I even try?

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

* * * *
until next time, keep dreaming,
