HIDE & SEEK (photo) & CHANNELING THE ISLANDS (non-dream haiku, & free verse poem) by Roswila

CHANNELING THE ISLANDS

the clouds hover low
over the distant islands
protection or threat

* * * *

and so it goes on each approach: the closer
I come to the beach overlook, enjoying
the view of the islands rising high
in the distance, the farther away
they seem; 'til as close as I can
get, from behind the doubled
fence of wood and chain link
at cliff's edge, they waver,
stretched faint and low
across the far edge
of an enticing sea,
like Bali Hai*

[non dream haiku written 10-29-16, and a non-dream free verse poem written 11-2-16. Both of these were inspired by the Channel Islands as seen from the beach overlook park I frequently walk to, and of which this photo, "Hide & Seek" (10-30-16 003v3) was taken a couple days ago. *Bali Hai. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
