IN THE EYE OF GOD (photomorph) & PRAYER TO SURRENDER (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

PRAYER TO SURRENDER

take me all unaware to that leap
or I will not go, give me no chance
to think it through, to insist on belief
or that it make a certain sense
nor that faith arrive in the nick of time
to offer its buoyancy to the falling

for I fear this deepest of all leaps
can only be white-knuckled:
one cutting breath,
a bunching of every muscle,
then a letting go over
the vast echoing edge

nothing before, nothing behind,
held only by what cannot be known,
'til even being held blows away
in the wind of the leap

and there's not one blessèd thing left
but what will be

[non-dream free verse poem written 5-20-16. Fifth in a "Prayer to..." series, all posted here (Prayer to the sun, Prayer to the Haze, Prayer to Empty Moments, and Prayer to An Other) so just use the search function in the upper left of this page, if you're interested. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
