GOSSIP'S WAGES (photomorph) & HAPLESS (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
HAPLESS
for the second time in as many days
The Pope takes an angry stand
on a human rights issue,
a bunch of folk immediately excoriate
him for doing so, even though
Popes in the past were criticized
for not taking stands at critical
junctures in history
then there's the matter of The Pope's
new, very small home, that he ordered
be built in the service of thrift:
these same folk buzz negatively
about its location under an urban overpass
that might flood in storms, which would only
lead to expensive, periodic cleaning and repairs,
so much, they say, for his tightening
of the Papal belt
sad, is it not? how it seems to be
some folk's nature to leave
no good deed unturned,
flipped on its back and left there
to flap around in the hot sun of gossip
like a hapless sea turtle
[free verse poem on a dream of 2-28-16. As to the metaphor of The Pope: I'm not Catholic, but I do have a lot of respect for the current Pontiff. Photomorph "Gossip's Wages" (7-17-10 10004ev7) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
