STACKED UP (photo) & NIGHT GAMES (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
NIGHT GAMES
feeling all at odds
and scrambled up inside
as if she'd been the butt
of that old card game joke
of 52 pick up*
she struggles her way
through the tall gated turnstile
into the busy underground subway
what a relief as things slip
into some sort of order again
first the miserable turnstile
then the entire subway
fading away like so much smoke
then the pieces inside her
settling neatly like a deck
of cards squared up and ready
for the next shuffling
she laughs briefly to herself
wondering where she'll wind
up next and whether it
would even be worth the time
and effort to try to stack
the pack this time
[free verse poem on a dream of 2-14-15. *"52 pickup" -- that old joke in which someone asks if you'd like to play 52 pickup, then tosses the deck of cards into the air. Photo "Stacked Up" (6-14-09 2406e) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
