MIDNIGHT VESTMENTS (photo art) & ERROR & WILL (dream narrative) by Roswila
ERROR AND WILL
the late night city streets
quiet down and empty out
but for she and I
and she's not even aware of me
until I playfully fly up behind her
giving her a huge startle
deeply scared the little girl runs ahead
yelling for her friend somewhere
ahead in the dark: there's a woman
trying to snatch me out of the air!
I'm more concerned with how my feet
drag on the sidewalk while I fly as I try
to swoop carefully up behind her
another time but still can't lift
my feet above the dust
sheesh! I'm scaring this tow headed child
out of her wits with my silly gambit
I'd better catch up and explain myself
but before I can she trips and falls
blindly into an exposed construction
site basement down and down
several stories deep
how will I ever rescue her
my skill at flying is not great enough
to plumb that messy depth
much less to heft our combined
weights out again safely
I just know she's hit her head
please please don't be too injured
before I can decide to try or not
I'm at a dinner party with a church
bishop who holding me too close
as he leads me in a dance
whispers warmly in my ear
reassuring and tempting
at the same time:
even clerics as high up as I
commit sins of error and will
[narrative on a dream of 6-16-14. (Yeah, one of those I would have trouble calling a poem.) Just one of many influences I see in this dream is a new book I started reading last night, "The Individuation of God," by Peter B. Todd. It's heavily intellectual/academic so it's interesting to me to see where my dreaming mind took the reactions I've had so far. Oh my, forgot the new mystery I also just started reading (my current "lying in bed before sleep" book) "Divine Inspiration," by Jane Langton. It's set in a church congregation. (Lest anyone get the impression I'm religious, I'm not. Though I would admit to being spiritually inclined. ) Photo art "Midnight Vestments" (6-3-14 005v5) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
