SEASON OF THE SAMURAI (photomorph) & AN END TO THE DREAM (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

AN END TO THE DREAM

she’s begun to wonder if this endlessly
convoluted and painfilled dream of being
human is almost over at last; if maybe, just
maybe, she’ll wake soon to an ancient oak
playing with her rise and fall through its leafy
branches, welcoming her home to her true
nature from which she’d been so rudely
yanked, long ago: she, once again,
the tree’s gossamer winged dryad*,
its fiercely protective fairy

[free verse poem on a dream of 1-8-19. *Dryad: in ancient Greek mythology, a fairy who lived in an oak tree. I’ve known of this mythology for a great many years but was only just now reminded on googling that they were said to be very shy of other creatures, except for the Goddess Artemis: I’d named my new computer Artemis days before I had this dream! I'm rather consistently surprised at how unconscious memory influences us (both consciously and unconsciously :-D). Add to that how anytime we recall something, that memory gets morphed a bit, and mental and emotional life becomes even more intriguing to me. However do we maintain any sense of continuity? Maybe that's just it: by constantly recreating it. Hm... Photomorph “Season of the Samurai” [in a 2012 folder of mine, or older] by Roswila]

until next time, keep dreaming,
