VANISHING STEPS (photo art) & THE SORTING (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

THE SORTING

each inheritance
over the years from relations
who passed away
shines a different bright color
with one in shades of grey
but what's surprising
each is worth a great deal more
than could have been imagined

were these gifts meant as finance
or to be quietly stashed away
to be cashed in to ease a moment's need
or to be spent time with as lasting treasures

fortunate indeed to be retired
there's a lot of sorting to do

[free verse poem on a dream of 7-28-14. This started out as tanka and two-liners, but needed to be loosened up (as I've been doing a bit recently). I think the tanka, dreamku, monoku, and two-liners forms are, more and more, giving me a place to start, but not necessarily to wind up. Hm, that could be one way to read this dream poem. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
