ROCK CLIMBING (photo morph) & CHRONIC (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
CHRONIC
my dark haired woman friend
takes us to stay at a coastal motel
it's not quite up to snuff but she's convinced
there's just one small change
that could be made to improve it,
from above on the cliff
by the motel I see her hovering
over the young person who owns it
my friend seems to think
a simple fix to the beach
is all that's required
but I can't see any beach at all
just ragged cliff straight down to the water
surging around their ankles
and why is my friend trying to get
all up in this person's business anyway
she does this wherever we go
if nothing's obvious she mentally picks
until something justifies her urge,
allows her to scratch her miserable itch to fix
and at least try to make things right
by her own lights
I wonder if there's rehab
for chronic criticism
[free verse poem on a dream of 8-21-14. (This is one of those that might be better termed a dream narrative.) My friend in this dream was an actual public figure who's just re-entered rehab for an addiction. What an image for a shadow figure. Guess I got told! There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
