ANOTHER HUNGRY WOLF

she offers me the binder of info
about a new approach, her gentle
enthusiasm and true belief
obvious to even a casual observer

there do appear to be new colors
shining out of this binder
and I am anxious to believe
that something fresh has landed
in my hands at last

as I leaf through the pages
in their clear plastic sheets,
the face of my inquiry
reflects in morphing shapes,
here and there on each page surface

but just as where I am reflects
on each successive sheet I view
so, too, the binder's linking
of new colors is intimately permeated
with the underlying shade of its
painfully familiar premise

I sadly and softly shut the binder,
all too certain now that this handful
is no more, no less
than another hungry wolf
in radiant sheep's clothing


[prose poem (or maybe a narrative?) on a dream of 7-5-14. As usual I hasten to add this has at least as much to do with my inner "selves" and beliefs, as with any external relationship.
