COCKSCOMB (photo art) & HENNY PENNIES (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
HENNY PENNIES
ooops! the boss's personalized version
of the communal computer program
has disappeared completely,
and I never got around to writing
the letter I'd promised,
verifying no mistakes were made
on its newest innovations
at least no one's pointing a finger
at me (yet) when by now I'd usually
have been called on the carpet
for it all, guilty or not
(I've never been able to get rid
of that KICK ME sign pinned
between my shoulder blades)
and what's with all this fuss anyway?
why all these Henny Pennies rushing
around, clacking and scratching
at everything and rolling
their eyes at the sky?
all other copies of the program CD
have arrived with everything on them,
their slipcases in deep shades
of green and shadowy blues,
rustling like the woods lining
an unknown mountain path
I'd say onward and upwards,
ye chickens! it's this small,
all too familiar backyard pen of fear
you're scrabbling around in
that's the real problem
[free verse poem on a dream of 5-19-14. Though I see a lot more here, this is basically a sort of tough love pep talk for myself. And in that regard, it's also a bit encouraging to note that I'm not blaming myself (yet, LOL). I also note the third reference in very recent poems to a mountain path. There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
