WHAT LIES BENEATH (photo) & [untitled] (monoku) by Roswila

thick skinned apple same sweet flesh beneath

[This is a dream monoku written in December 2007, which might also be considered a non-dream monoku as it's "realistic." This is another one I came across recently going through old hand written dreamku notebooks that I used to keep. (See my comment below yesterday's posts.) It was posted here years back, but in dreamku form - i.e. three lines. However, way under the usual total syllable count of 17, making it perfect for revision into a monoku. BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:
