ROOF TOP PARTY (photo) & OUT OF SIGHT (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila
OUT OF SIGHT
a slew of gulls, one after another,
lands on the flat roof, first their
orange-yellow feet disappear
from sight behind the eave,
then their wings and heads,
and all that squawking rising
as they flap furiously down,
must be quite a wild roof top
party going on up there!
[non-dream free verse poem written 3-12-17. I've had this one hanging fire for some time as other poems had more punch. But today feels like just the right time to post it. As the title literally refers to the seagulls being out of sight as they got onto the roof. But can also be read to reflect what's happening out there in Isla Vista (the University of Santa Barbara's town) right now while I type this. Things are rapidly becoming "out of sight" as Deltopia gets into swing. I know, I just got back from my walk. Gorgeous day, with lots of students in the streets and on house balconies partying with loud music. And it's only just begun. Photo "Roof Top Party" (3-14-17 008v2) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
