SHOOTING STARS (photomorph) & FALLING STAR (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
FALLING STAR*
"Catch a falling star
and put it in your pocket
save it for a rainy day ..."
she reaches for each word
of this delightful old song,
plucking one after another
from the familiar and not unfriendly
darkness around her,
adding each in turn to a growing bundle
held gently in the curve of her arm
against her heart, a bouquet
of incipient songs
"Catch a falling star
and put it in your pocket
never let it fade away" ...
never let it fade away ...
fade away ...
away ...
[free verse poem on a dream of 7-3-16. *The phrases in quotes are from the lyrics to the Perry Como song "Catch A Falling Star". I was singing it as part of the dream and woke up singing it in my mind. And last but certainly not least (if unrelated), HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
