WATER BIRTH (photomorph) & BETWEEN TWO BIRTHS (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
BETWEEN TWO BIRTHS
my father's busily denying any upset
that mother's leaving him to have their baby
she's packing her things on the seat of her walker
and there's an awful lot of stuff to fit on it
I offer to get a large shopping bag to put in all in
so it won't slide around and fall off once in motion
then I turn back to dad, concerned for him given
his history of having been abandoned, over and over
yes, the present's vulnerable belly has it's imperatives
that can't be stopped, as it nurtures another unknown
but the past also presses forward, just as needy
and only seemingly already in our hands
[free verse poem on a dream of 4-3-16. These two were my actual father and stepmother (whom I called mother), both long deceased. Photomorph "Water Birth" (3-10-10 10046v4b) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
