AUTUMN AT THE GATE (photo art) & TRANSPORTING (trio of non-dream haiku) by Roswila
TRANSPORTING
rusty front gate
a white taxi idles
at the curb
* * * *
after the tunnel
a half moon smudged
by clouds
* * * *
leaving the cab
oh, the shower
of golden leaves!
[three old haiku from my last working years back east in New York City, written in late 2005/early 2006. These are from a large number of haiku I wrote waiting for, riding in, or just after taxi rides to/from work. My knee arthritis had advanced to the point that I could no longer do the walking to/from the subway, much less do endless stairs once in the stations and all that standing crowded into a lurching box. Of course, the cabs were so expensive I was almost working for no profit, but even a tiny income was better than none at all. So I held on and continued to work until I could take early retirement when I turned 62. Photo art "Autumn at the Gate" (12-24-13 002v5) by Roswila]
PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
