DOUBLE YOLK (photo) & OUR HOUSE (dreamku, tanka, & two-liner) by Roswila

OUR HOUSE

toy red lizards lounge
outside as if sunning themselves
it’s all just for show

for I know something’s
been irrevocably lost,
even as I slip
its second yolk back into
a huge peeled hard boiled egg

and sweet singing runs fingers through my hair:
“our house is a very, very fine house…”

[a dreamku, tanka, and capping two-liner on images from vaguely connected dreams of 4-9-13. The lyrics quoted in the last line are from that lovely old song Our House, by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. I was singing that song throughout my dreams last night and it’s become my ear worm for the day. Photo “Double Yolk” by Roswila]

BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:

-- very brief comparison of dreamku and haiku: DREAMKU ARE NOT HAIKU
