IN LIGHT OF MEMORY (photo) & INORGANIC (dreamku series) by Roswila

INORGANIC

others have climbed sky high stairs before
(buildings don’t blossom out of the packed dirt)

but how will a climb
so high ever be managed,
this time by workers
who cart grey squares of floppy
repair patches in the thousands

frigid anxiety rises with the workers
(buildings aren’t kept from falling by trellises)

[a two-liner, tanka, and another two-liner on a dream of 4-27-13. This one holds (among much else, I believe) memories of living in New York City during and post-9/11. And those memories were stirred up by the Boston Marathon bombings. Photo “In Light of Memory” by Roswila]

BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:

-- very brief comparison of dreamku and haiku: DREAMKU ARE NOT HAIKU
